Atlas Acetabular Cup
Background
With 25 years clinical heritage and a proven track record, the ATLAS cup offers the surgeon and patient peace of mind for long term clinical success.
Available in an extensive size range (44mm to 74mm) the ATLAS cup ensures a tailored fit for all and is also useful option in revision cases.
The ATLAS titanium shell is available in 3 versions:
- ATLAS III P has screw for optional screw fixation
- ATLAS IV P without screw holes
- ATLAS MS without anti rotation spikes for minimal invasive approach and superior screw holes
The ATLAS is available with 2 bearing options:
- Standard Ultra High Molecular weight Polyethylene
- Highly cross linked ‘Trianon’ polyethylene

‘Trianon’ Cross linked Polyethylene:
Cross-linking the polyethylene is advantageous for reducing the volume of the wear particles, thus delaying the onset of osteolysis, decreasing its significance and is therefore beneficial to increase the diameter of the friction couple.
Surgi-C Ortho also provides a semi-retentive insert giving the surgeon confidence in those cases where there is a risk of dislocation during the early recovery period.
As the quality of the friction couple is essential, it is recommended to implant BIOLOX® FORTE alumina heads.
ATLAS liners will accommodate 4 head sizes 22.2mm, 28mm, 32mm and 36mm
Specific Indication
The ATLAS shell has 4 spikes for primary rotational stability with the exterior cup surface coated in Hydroxyapatite for strong secondary bony in-growth.
The inner surface is grit blasted titanium ensuring stability of the polyethylene against the titanium shell. The stability between the polyethylene liner and the titanium shell prevents wear debris and osteolysis, assuring the clinician and patient long life of the prosthesis.
The ATLAS acetabular cup has an elastic shell. The split in the shell is designed to close when impacted into the acetabulum and to expand when the polyethylene liner is inserted. This ensures a secure rim fixation and firm press fit.
The ATLAS acetabular cup is a cementless elastic acetabular cup.
